About the ADHD Parent Coaching Programme

ADHD Kids Parent Group CoachingThe ADHD Parent Coaching Programme is a six week course where you’ll have time and space to explore some of the issues affecting you and your family in a small group setting (max 12). Often talking about the challenges of parenting a child with ADHD is difficult because other people just don’t get what it’s like, but in this group you’ll meet other parents going through the same things as you.

The ADHD Parent Coaching Programme covers a number of topics and gives you the opportunity to be open and honest, and to receive support from other parents, including a professional coach with experience of parenting a child with ADHD. It’s relaxed, effective, friendly and fun!

What does the ADHD Parents Coaching Programme cover?

Session 1 – Setting Goals and Saying No!

Introduction to coaching and the group; balancing the Wheel of Life;  set goals for the programme; learning to say NO!

Session 2 – Finding Your Strengths, Overcoming Your Weaknesses

Identifying your core values; discovering the things that make your heart sing; defining your strengths and weaknesses and how you can use BOTH to your benefit; giving and receiving praise.

Session 3 – Dealing with Difficult People

(We’re talking doctors and teachers here – not your child!) Who are difficult people and what makes dealing with them so challenging? Seeing things from the other side; understanding listening blocks; detoxing difficult relationships.

Session 4 – Building Confidence and Challenging Beliefs

Labels – how do they help us and hinder us? Overcoming fears and creating new beliefs; using your intuition; building confidence from role models.

Session 5 – Managing Stress and Asking for Support

What causes stress? Spotting the signs of stress; juggling and prioritising your worries; asking for help; using meditation to manage your mindset.

Session 6 – Taking Care of Yourself

Reviewing your needs; letting go; exploring what makes you YOU; busting energy zappers; wrapping up and review.

What is ADHD Parent Coaching?

As the parent of a child with ADHD I know that life can be very difficult. There’s all the day to day stuff to do – working, shopping, cooking, cleaning, caring for the kids, managing the bills, household chores … the list is endless. You’re also battling to get your child the support they need, and your time is often taken up with meetings with schools, doctors, paediatricians, CAMHS … difficult conversations … tough decisions.

And of course all this is going on against the backdrop of parenting a child with ADHD, which is a challenge in itself. From my own experience I know that’s likely to mean managing meltdowns, refusals, defiance, aggression, frustration and inattention.

By the end of the day you’re likely to be exhausted – and the constant struggle can knock your confidence and self-esteem and leave you feeling stressed, anxious and worn down.

And that’s where the ADHD Parent Coaching Groups can help

I can’t promise miracles. I can’t change your child’s behaviour, or wave a wand to make everything instantly better.

But when you join one of the ADHD parent coaching groups you’ll re-discover the strengths you already have to make a positive difference to your life, and the life of your child. They may have been buried beneath all the junk life throws at you, but they’re still there, and together we’ll dig them out, give them a lick of polish and get them working like new.

You’ll also meet other parents going through exactly the same things as you, so you can exchange ideas, share experiences and learn new tips and strategies that work.
